Christmas at Seongbin Girl’s Home

Every Saturday, a group of volunters visit Seongbin Girls’ Orphanage to spend time with the kids. Gwangju Volunteers Youth Assistance Group (GVYAG), the official name of the group, has been spear-headed by Al Barnum.

Mr. Barnum has been involved with Seongbin for the past four years, and he created the “Adopt-a-Child” Christmas program featured in this video.

“For these children for one day,
the walls of this place will melt
and all they’ll see is the kindness
given from strangers’ hearts.”
– Al Barnum,
Volunteer Coordinator

Before the holidays, each girl at the orphanage writes a short list of items that they need or want, then anonymous volunteers purchase and gift wrap these items so that Santa can deliver them to the girls at the Christmas party. This year, each of the 51 girls received all three gifts on their wish list.
