John Jackson took photos in 1971 in Korea. After 30 years, in 2009, he began taking photos again. His works won awards in photo exhibitions in Korea between 2008 and 2010 and have been displayed in exhibitions around the country, one of which was attended by U.S. President Barack Obama during his visit to Korea. Jackson’s work has been characterized as expressing a kind of “gentle romanticism” and “lyrical”, in that it is “an intensely personal expression of feeling and emotion.”
