Hangeul Day

On October 9th it was once again time to honor one of Korea’s most famous inventions, the Korean native alphabet Hangeul (한글). Hangeul Day is the annual recognition and celebration of the written Korean language, which consists of 24 characters – 14 consonants and 10 vowels.

Gwangju Reunification Marathon Run

The Sunday morning sun was rising up to reveal a beautiful, slightly foggy landscape of rice fields and mountains out in the distance by the Gwangju Airport. Racers warmed up around the starting line as the races prepared to set off in rapid succession; the half-marathon, the ten kilometer and then the five kilometer.

Kimchi Noodles

Here is a recipe for a cold and tasty “Kimchi Noodle” for you to enjoy as the last of the summer sun fades away. As a garnish, besides kimchi, you can add anything you want to the noodle soup. For example, I usually add cucumber and an egg. And if you have broth in your refrigerator, the cooking time will be shorter. If you don’t have it, don’t worry about it. You can buy it at any market in Korea.
